Or you may read the whole story here:
“This will serve as my 28th ride. Two more to go, then I’ll cut this thing out.”Since May 28, I’ve been adding an hour and a half on my usual train ride towards my office. It is quite a hassle I may say, traveling across the 30 stations of this train with the thought of seeing someone again. Yes, you got it right. I dedicate that hour and a half to ride from station 15 to station 1 to station 30 then to station 28, where my office are just a few blocks away. It was such a rubbish thing to do, exhausting my self painstakingly while all I really need to pass through are 14 stations. There was actually a time when my mom thought that I may be up to something illegal, when she have learned that I am going out of the house very much earlier than I should. I cleared her worries off and frenetically promised that I am still a crime-free citizen, which is the truth, in case you guys are all thinking about the same thing. I also told my mom why I am doing this desperate sacrifice. It is for a bookmark… and a girl.It was May 1, such a very lousy and normal day for me, except the fact that the sun was viciously heating up every bits and pieces of me. I was wearing my lucky blue polo with the thought that maybe, something dear will happen to me. I abode into the train from station 15, which is the one nearest to my house, and was heading up to station 28. I read a book my friend gave me without really paying enough attention of how the story was going, I didn’t like to absorb the essence of the book; I just needed something to kill time and my boredom.Station 28. Station 28.The female voice-over declared as the train arrived in station 28. I closed the book and tucked it under my right arm and headed towards the nearest door of the train. I wasn’t looking to anything or anyone, it was a normal day, and nothing had caught my attention for the last 30 minutes I succumbed in this filthy train.Except when I went out of the train and realized that my favorite blue polo bookmark (which, needless to say, matches up my polo) had dropped off my book and was left hopelessly inside the train.I tried scuttling towards the door where I exited just minutes ago, with the hope that it hangs up open just in time for me to get inside again and find my polo bookmark. It did. It did hang up open. Welcoming me as if really waiting for me to enter his kingdom. But something, no, someone stopped me in getting inside the train.Inside the train, a girl in pink dress stepped onto my bookmark. Her hair was held by a knitted white headband which accentuated her lovely features. She got a pale skin which reminded me of the impossible snow in the middle of the summer season; her eyes were as blue as the ocean; her nose wasn’t that really perfect; and her lips, was as pink as her lovely, floating dress.I was captivated. She looked on her foot and examined the strange thing she stepped on; with all the grace and class of a girl I haven’t seen for my whole life.“Please pick it up. Please pick it up. Pick it up so I’ll have the reason to see you again.” My mind whispered. She looked up and her blue eyes met my hazel brown eyes. I didn’t know if she felt the same way but it was as if a very huge boulder came pounding my chest while there were a school of jellyfish that came stinging my stomach. She embezzled the reality I was in, she brought me into such a strange paradise I’ve never been into in my whole life- and that was for looking at me alone. The door of the train cut the enchanting moment I had. The door slipped close right in front of me and the girl in pink dress.Right between me and my future. That of course, left me on the brim of desperation. I didn’t know anything about here except her angelic face. I didn’t know where she was heading to or what her name is. All I knew that time was that she rides the train at around seven in the morning… and that I was very eager to see her again, which left me with one preposterous idea: riding from station 1 to 30 around six in the morning just so I’ll be able to catch up with her as soon as she rode the train again. And that was the story why I am wasting an hour and a half in this filthy train station: to see her again. It has been 28 days already since I have started this journey, just like how this story’s opening went on a while ago. Needless to say, I flunked on those 28 days. I haven’t seen any sign of her nor any sight of my polo bookmark, which by now proved itself to really bring out luck, only that its powers wasn’t that enough to make a miracle. But I promised myself that this lunatic act will only be for 30 days; and that I would have to settle on the realization that maybe, she just rode the train just for that day alone and never will again. And that I’ll never ever see her again. And my bookmark.I am now on the 27th station; just three stations away from the end-point, Station 30, wherein I would have to buy a ticket again to head on the 28th (which again, where I should really be). I open my book- the same book I was holding when I saw the girl. My eyes run across the floating words I am not really paying attention on; I just have to do it not to kill time or boredom- but to kill the feeling that has been fluttering inside me that keeps me a bit insane.Station 28. Station 28.The same female voice-over announced as we arrive on Station 28. I examine the train very eagerly, with the hope that the girl will suddenly pop-out of nowhere. And there she is, standing right in front of the door in my left, waiting for it to sling open.I scram across the train shoving everyone that comes pass my way. I need to get into her as fast as I can, before that damn door slings close again just as it had when I first saw the girl. I have been waiting for this moment for 28 days which seems to be the most painful 28 days of my life. No one can ever stop me for finally meeting the girl of my dreams. No one. And that includes you freakish door.I run out of the train just in time when she is already walking towards the exit door of Station 28. My lungs are both pledging death because of breathlessness yet my heart is pounding so hard that it seems to be the only organ functioning inside my body.I grabbed her shoulders with my trembling right hand.“Hey.” I declared with all the available air my body has.“Do I know you?” she probed, while shaking my hand off her shoulder.(I know that what I am doing is kind of freaky, but hey, I’ve waited long enough to settle back!)“Well, not really. I ride the same train as you do. And I saw you before; 28 days before to be specific.”She didn’t answer. I am very much sure she’s contemplating about which way she will run when I suddenly turn-out to be a psycho.“I am actually thinking that maybe, you have my polo bookmark. I left it inside the train before.”“No, I don’t have it.” she ended.“Dear! Hey! Are you with someone?” a deep voice from behind came right before this very important conversation.“No. Well yes. Hypotheticallly yes. But I don’t know him.” The girl replied.“Hey brother, I think you’re bugging my wife.”“You what?!” I asked zealously. Don’t tell me I heard it right.“My wife. Doubting? Well we happened to have our wedding just 28 days ago, which were, the 28 days of our honeymoon vacation. Need I say more?” he answered. The whole world fell right in front of me as his words are slowly sinking into my mind. The girl I’ve been stalking for almost a month now is married, which means, I fell into a huge puddle of stupidity.I am seeing the girl and her husband walk across the alley of Station 28- with all my hopes and dreams in their pockets.“Hey! It’s you. Finally.” A girl grabbed my shoulders while whipping for air. She looks as if she has just gotten out of a safari.“I believe this belongs to you.” She handed down a familiar thing… my polo bookmark.“I have been riding this train for 28 days already, with the hope of seeing you so that I can return your bookmark. I think it’s very important to you, on the way you looked on it when a girl stepped on it few days ago.” She continued still grasping for air.“I feel guilty for it, so I acted desperately and spent an hour an a half traveling from Station 1 to 30 to see you again. I often see you here, but I don’t have the chance of getting to you successfully because you always run towards the door of Station 30 as if you’re in need to catch the returning train to Station 1 again.” She confessed.“Wait, are you mute? Or am I just freaking you out?” she asked sarcastically.“No. I just don’t what to say. Thank you. And no, you don’t freak me out, I happen to know someone who just did the same thing. I’m Sonny.” I finally replied.“Well, I’m Cher.” She offered he hand.“No, seriously, I am.”From the look in here eyes, I know that I’ve found my soul mate right in the place wherein I just thought I lose it- Station 28.
